Anniversary Party

Did you ever wonder about the origins of the wedding anniversary?  Well, according to Wikipedia, the modern tradition may have originated in medieval Germany where they only celebrated the 25^th and 50^th and the wife received a wreath of silver or gold. The origins of the current gift conventions date to 1937. Before that, only the 1st, 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th, 50th, and 75th anniversaries had an associated gift.

Not every anniversary year needs a big party, but you should celebrate those “milestone” anniversaries (1st, 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th, 30th, 40th, 50th).  Let me take the stress off planning a big celebration so you can enjoy yourself.

The first step – Event Consultation

This is a FREE consultation to discuss the event service type that best fits your budget and the type of event this will be (milestone, surprise, family party, etc.).  Do you have any family traditions you want to be included?

The Planning & Coordination Services:

• Choose a Date and Time
  • Ideally the date should be close to the actual anniversary date and the best time for the party should take into consideration the age of the couple and the age of the guests.
• Decide on Location
  • To make this less stressful, I would recommend the party not be held at the couple’s home. Consider a banquet hall or their church.  Depending on the couple’s age, if living in an assisted living facility, check with the facility manager to see if you can use one of their community rooms. You might even consider hosting the party in an outdoor setting.
• Create and Send Invitations
  • Create a guest list for your party and check with the anniversary couple about who they would like to attend. If this is a surprise, consult with any family members about the guests that should be invited.
• Plan for Food and Drink
  • Depending on where your event is held, may affect the type of food, and drink you are going to serve. The venue may require a catering service prepare the food. However, if you are allowed, consider preparing the food yourself, or ask quests to bring a dish.  Most anniversary parties do include a special cake, so be sure to leave room in your budget.
• Decorations
  • Decorations will be determined by “theme”. You may want to keep things simple with tablecloths and flowers, or you may choose to hire someone to decorate for a more elaborate themed party.
• Capture the Moment
  • You don’t want this special occasion to go undocumented, so be sure to take lots of pictures, maybe even consider hiring a professional photographer.
